My husband and sister have diabetes. I have researched low carb diets and discovered that the number of carbs in each dish is important. I make them follow a strict menu plan, with meals that have 45-75 grams of carb each (3-5 carb choices). Ideally women should have 45-60 grams of carb per meal and men should have 60-75 grams of carb per meal.My husband's favorite meal is Hamburger Soup:1 cup Quick Hamburger Soup 10 g carb (0.5 carb choice) 103 calories1 thin slice Four-Grain Bread 21 g carb (1.5 carb choices) 118 calories1 cup Apple Wedges 15 g carb (1 carb choice) 55 calories1 Soft Chocolate Chip Cookie* 12 g carb (1 carb choice) 82 calories1 cup Fat-Free Milk 11 g carb (0.5 carb choice) 86 caloriesTotal Carbs: 69 g carb (4.5 carb choices) Total Calories: 444
